Cut & Fill Calculator
Quick earthworks balance using area × average depth. Get cut, fill (with compaction allowance), net material and loose spoil to cart.
Example inputs are editable. Use your project values. Enter 0 where no optional allowance is intended; blank fields pause the calculation.
Your inputs
Your results
- Cut volume (bank)
- 510 m³
- Fill required (compacted)
- 200 m³
- Bank material needed for fill
- 230 m³
- Net surplus (bank)
- 280 m³
- Loose spoil to cart
- 350 m³
These free results do not automatically save or sync to a Fieldlink job.
How it works
- Cut = cut area × average cut depth
- Fill (bank) = fill area × depth × (1 + compaction %)
- Net = cut − fill (bank)
- Loose spoil = surplus × (1 + bulking %)
Assumptions and practical notes
The fill allowance is user-entered extra bank material per compacted volume, not a geotechnical shrinkage model. Area × average depth is an estimating check, not a survey model. For tender-grade quantities use a proper surface-to-surface takeoff.
Indicative calculation only. Verify quantities against survey or design models before pricing or ordering.
