How it works
- Area = length × width, or measured area
- Depth in metres = depth in mm ÷ 1000
- Volume = area × depth in metres
- Estimated tonnes = volume × matching density
- Order tonnes = estimated tonnes × (1 + allowance/100)
Worked example
50 m × 6 m × 150 mm = 45 m³. At an illustrative 2.2 t/m³ on the same volume basis: 99 tonnes. A user-selected 5% ordering allowance gives 103.95 tonnes.
Assumptions and practical notes
The example density is not an AP40/AP65 specification or a universal supplier value. Match density to the selected loose or compacted volume basis. Changing the basis label does not calculate a compaction conversion. The allowance is extra material, not an automatic compaction factor; avoid counting compaction twice.
